Randi and Patrick are from Texas. They have that southern charm, and their love for one another is so obvious when you first meet them. We immediately felt a connection with these two. Rocky Mountain National Park was the perfect fit for their dream day.
Randi and Patrick were certain they didn’t want everything that came with planning a big wedding. From the start of planning, it was important to consider including their family and friends in the trip to Colorado. They couldn’t imagine getting married without them present, and Rocky Mountain National Park offered them a great landscape with accessible adventure.
Colorado is a beautiful state to get married in. Elopements and weddings of all kinds and sizes are on the rise in Colorado for its natural, year round beauty. One of the best reasons to elope in Colorado is that it offers unlimited options of adventure and access to beautiful landscapes. It is the perfect getaway for a handful of days away from home. The remote wilderness will humble you in ways that you can’t imagine. You can experience wildlife and recreation simultaneously. Simply going for a drive will have you wanting to see even more.
As we started planning their elopement, Randi and Patrick were awestruck with a few specific areas in Rocky Mountain National Park. The high alpine lakes, the dramatic vista views, and the wide open valleys where the elk roam inspired their elopement day.
Fortunately for them, a recent wedding cancellation in RMNP was their ticket to eloping inside the park boundary! This was a dream come true for these two. Originally we planned to get them married outside of the park and then adventure in the park. This change of plans gave us more opportunity to explore the park for portraits, and even better, gave them and their guests the experience they dreamed of.

Eloping with Family and Friends
When planning your dream elopement day, we urge our couples to prioritize the things that are the MOST important to them. When it comes to guests, if you simply can’t see yourself getting married without your family and friends present, that’s great! We love intimate weddings and elopements with guests, it elevates the planning process and turns your elopement planning into a two-phase thought process. What is the experience going to be like for you, just the two of you, and how are we going to make it enjoyable, relaxing and fun for our guests as well!
One of the things we highly recommend for elopements with guests is to consider their experience as a part of your planning. So what does this look like? There are truly no limits. We typically start by considering the “long weekend getaway” approach. Find an Airbnb, VRBO, or other rental property that your guests can enjoy for multiple days. This allows your guests to travel and have leisure time around your elopement celebration. You want to allow them to feel immersed in the location you’ve chosen.

Best Time of Year to Elope in Colorado
Our favorite time of year to be in Colorado is the fall. The summer heat has cooled off, the summer tourism has calmed down, and the aspen trees turn a beautiful golden color, an experience unlike other foliage around the country. There is something to be said about Colorado’s mountain towns in the winter, as well. Winter time in Colorado is magical, with bright sunny days and snowy mountaintops, you can still adventure even when it is a bit colder in the mountains. Year round sun is what makes Colorado a great place to elope in any season, but do beware that winter months do bring much colder temperatures and the weather moves fast!
